The First Treatment Center of Its Kind

When Elizabeth Kabler’s young daughter returned to New York City in recovery, no outpatient treatment programs existed in the city that provided the services she and her family needed. In 2007, Elizabeth organized a board of trustees and founded New York Center for Living as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, making it the first adolescent and young adult treatment center of its kind in New York City.

Since then, the exceptional staff and rigorous clinical program of New York Center for Living have been changing lives, one family at a time. The center exists in perpetuity to serve the families of this great city as long as the need exists.

Our Mission

New York Center for Living serves the unique developmental, social and psychological needs of adolescents and young adults who have substance use or mental health disorders. We understand that most adults experiencing addiction first begin using before the age of 18, and we are dedicated to combating these statistics.

At New York Center for Living, we believe early intervention, peer support networks and strong family relationships are integral to a successful treatment outcome. New York Center for Living was founded to fulfill a dire need in New York City and is specifically designed for the needs of this young population, from prevention and early intervention to treatment and aftercare.

The Foundation

New York Center for Living is a non-profit 501(c)(3) foundation, established to help the citizens of New York find hope and healing.

Elizabeth Kabler established an endowment for the foundation, and this recurring gift allows clients to access the highest quality of care at a reduced cost—currently less than half the cost of many other treatment centers. Whether paying for attendance through an insurance policy or self-pay, our clients benefit from the foundation’s fundraising efforts that keep costs down.

Every Christmas season, New York Center for Living hosts our biggest fundraiser of the year. Funds raised at this annual event go to our scholarship fund, helping to significantly lower the cost of attendance for all New York Center for Living clients.

The long-term goal of New York Center for Living is to broaden the scope of our services by providing further outreach programs and education. Our intent is for all pediatricians to recognize and understand substance use in adolescents, for members of the community to be able to identify these same symptoms and for all who need it to have access to care.

Consider donating to New York Center for Living today. Through the continued financial support of the people and communities we serve, we are able to offer the highest quality of care at the lowest possible price. Your donation is fully tax deductible and will directly help heal lives while creating better futures for families all around you.
